39 UK universities feature in global top 500 ranking

39 UK universities feature in the 2018 edition of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), with the University of Cambridge leading the way in third overall.

The ARWU ranks the world’s top universities on six key indicators, including number of alumni, staff winning Nobel Prizes, highly cited research and the number of articles published in prestigious journals. Other UK universities ranked in the global top 100 include:

Times Higher Education (THE) have announced their nominations for the 2018 ‘University of the Year’.

Widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of UK higher education, THE's gala event will take place in London November 29th with a select panel taking into account research, teaching and access, as well as evidence of imaginative and innovative initiatives.

The universities nominated for the award include the University of West London, the only post-1992 and London-based University to be shortlisted, as well as the University of Essex, Keele University, Newcastle University, Swansea University and University of York.
